In the footsteps of Lisbeth Salander

Bellmansgatan 1 on Södermalm is a hot address for those who read Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy.
Some of them –  and we are talking here potentially approx. 20 million readers worldwide – have now chance to see places they read about in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest on a guided tour.

The Millennium guided walking tours

Stockholm City Museum (Stadsmuseet) has arranged The Millennium Tour – a city walking tour that starts at the Lisbeth Salander’s address. The tour goes also, among other locations, to protagonist Mikael Blomkvist´s home, the Millennium Magazine, and to Lisbeth’s luxurious apartment.

Featured movies, based on those detective novels by Stieg Larsson, do not make the popularity of Lisbeth Salander and Michael Blomkvist any lesser, so some locations and production facts from the films are now a part of the tour, too.

The English-speaking tours are held summertime (June-September) on Saturdays at 11 a.m., and on Sundays at 11 a.m. during the rest of the year.
Tickets for SEK 100 (approx. 10 euro) can be bought at the Museum, at the Stockholm Tourist Centre, and via www.ticnet.se 

Groups can have a guided tour in other languages than Swedish and English: in French, Italian, Spanish, German and Danish.

The tour takes approx. 2 hours.

At least two "Best Experiences in Sweden" are in Stockholm

The tours have been much appreciated by those who already made them. In 2008 was the Ice Hotel that won a tourist award for “Best Experience in Sweden”. A year later, as many as two Stockholm experiences - the Millennium guided tour and  the Vasa Museum have been nominated to this international "TRIP Global Award" (TRIP stands for Travel Industry in Progress). However, 2009 award went to Ystad, a town that arranges walking tours in the footsteps of another famous character from a crime novel - detective Wallander.

A tour on your own

At the Stockholm City Museum and at the Stockholm Tourist Centre you can also buy (for SEK 20) a guide map and make a Millennium tour on your own. The map is available in six languages: Swedish/English/French and Spanish/German/Italian.
