Stockholm Millesgården

Millesgården is located on Lidingö, one of the greater islands in the Stockholm area, can by itself be regarded as a work of art. The design with its lovely terraces, calm giving fountains, exiting stairways, sculptures and columns embedded in a diversity of vegetation surround this beautiful and integrated museum. From the cliff Herserudsklippan there is an immense outlook across the waters of Värtan.

When entering this astonishing complex of terraces and fountains one are overwhelmed by the sensuality in the composition of this museum. The art gallery with its many paintings and the architecture of the art gallery it self, the Swedish King Carl XVI Gustav inaugurated the art gallery in October 1999. The artist’s home with its many inspiring rooms and the light is a must to visit when in Stockholm.
Carl Milles (1875-1955) is one of Sweden’s most famous sculptors who studied in Paris for 8 years as one of Rodin’s assistants. His art work can be found all over the world today.

Millesgården has two opening seasons.
Summer:  May 15 - September 30; all days 11:00-17:00
Winter:  October 1 – May 14 Tue – Sun 12:00–17:00

Admission 80 SEK, No admission needed for children up to 18 year old.
